THE Southern region police division is gearing up for the coming Easter operations to ensure that there is no trouble during the long weekend.
Chief Supt Jerry Frank said yesterday he would contact all relevant provincial police commanders in Fly (Western), Oro, Gulf and Milne Bay to submit their provincial strategic operational activities and logistical requirements beginning today to ensure a smooth start to Easter by next Thursday.
Meanwhile, NCD and Central Assistant Police Commissioner Awan Sete said earlier this week that preparations for police operations for the Easter period in the city and nearby Central province were well underway.
He added that a detailed operational schedule would be made available early next week to inform all police personnel to perform to the required standard that would ensure a safe Easter weekend next week.
ACP Sete has urged the public to celebrate wisely with their families at their homes.
He has also  commended the on-going public support to the police special operations unit tasked to recapture the five remaining prisoners out of the Jan 12 Bomana jail break-out who are still on the run in the city.
Easter begins next Friday, which is Good Friday, until April 5, Easter Monday.
