SOUTH Pacific Brewery has maintained an unparalleled and uninterrupted sponsorship partnership with the Port Moresby Rugby League since 1953.
POMRFL chairman Dr James Naipao said the brewery, which was established in 1952, first got behind the PRL the following year through its famous SP Lager brand.
This year will be the 65th consecutive season the league and the brewer have been in partnership.
SP’s sponsorship for the competition is K100,000.
“SP POMRRFL, the one and only surviving and uninterrupted league since 1949 is proud of this partnership with SP Brewery,” Naipao, pictured, said.
“This league has produced over 160 Kumuls and this a testament to the backing of our loyal sponsor SP over the years.”
Naipao said SP would erect a scoreboard at the National Football Stadium’s outer field as part of its sponsorship deal.
“On behalf of the SP POMRFL, its board, patron, delegates, players, supporters, club sponsors and friends of the league, as chairman, I acknowledge and thank SP managing director Stan Joyce, his management for their commitment, their untiring, unwavering and uninterrupted sponsorship since 1953.”
