SOUTH Pacific Brewery has backed the Papua New Guinea Hockey Federation with K10,000 to host its national championships which begin tomorrow at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
The sponsorship is K5,000 in cash and K5,000 in the form of merchandise, gear and promotional support.
SP Brewery corporate affairs manager John Nilkare commended the efforts of federation president, Kaluwin Potuan and the hockey community for helping develop the sport.
Kaluwin praised SP Brewery’s support.
“It will go a long way to helping develop hockey in PNG,” he said.
“We play in six centres — Lae, Madang, Manus, East and West New Britain, and Port Moresby.
“After the championships, we’ll have a junior hockey tournament in November.
“We will have a Oceania Hockey official here to launch it.”
