THE Credit Corp Sparrows will have to be on top of their game as they take on the City Pharmacy Rebels in tomorrow’s Port Moresby Netball Association’s premier division.
The Sparrows recorded a comfortable 27-point victory over Aroma Coast Plus last weekend, as they easily outplayed their less fancied opponents.
While the Rebels have been doing it tough losing 61-54 against the Snax Mermaids in their previous match.
The Rebels have struggled to secure victories against the other top four teams in the division, another loss to second-placed Sparrows, who have already defeated them this season will see the Rebels fall out of the top four.
Sparrows are by all means not certain of securing a victory this weekend, for it will be unwise for any of the Rebels opponents to underestimate a team brimming with talented and experienced players.
The season is far from being over for the Rebels, but the women in blue have to start stringing together victories against the other top four teams such as leaders Mermaids, this weekend’s opponents Sparrows and Paramana.
The Sparrows led by their consistent performers Dianne Lahari, the versatile Naomi Leka along with Aivu and Samina Logona will not be in a charitable mood.
They along with defenders Kilala Owen and Aishar Roberts, will be eager to inflict a second defeat on the Rebels.
It will be up to veteran Lua Rikis and company to step up and shake off this current run of defeats against the top four.
