THE Credit Corporation Sparrows will hold their annual open-day trials on Saturday, with the programme starting at 8am and ending before lunch.
In a statement, club president Lawrence Lahari said current and interested members were welcome to attend the trials.
“This season, the Sparrows will enter teams in all the junior divisions — U10, U13, U15, U17 and U21 — in the Port Moresby Netball Association.
“Our senior teams will compete premier grade and division one.
“If there are more senior interested players, we may have another team.”
“The Sparrows are the premier champions, having won back-to- back titles. This year, we will be gunning for our third title in a row.
The premier team is headed by seasoned players Joyce Nao, Kilala Owen, Pepe Nerrie Adula and Margeret Eka, who is coming back from a major knee injury.
Courtney Abel, Louise Maliaki, Mary Leka Jr are all part of the new breed of Sparrows talent.
“We are always on the lookout for new talent,” Lahari said.
“We are also about developing our junior players to become the next Sparrows and Pepes.
“It’s our goal to develop our players with the best netball skills on and off the court, to become good role models in the community.
“We have great prospects in our U17 and U21 teams and look forward to further enhancing there skills this year.”
Meanwhile, the Port Moresby Netball Association has announced that the first trials for season will be on March 30.
