AHI landowners of Lae have been challenged to speak out on issues affecting them and other Morobeans living in the city.

West Taraka Morobe reform association, which comprises Morobeans from the other eight districts, said this when making its stand against the Lae City Commission proposal.

Association chairman Kuwi Starlin said for far too long, the Ahi people, who were responsible for giving their traditional land to settlers in Lae, have been quiet during ethnic clashes involving Morobeans and people from other provinces.

He said the Ahi leaders from Butibam, Kamkumung, Yanga, Wagang, Hengali and Yalu villages have not made known their stand on the city commission proposal.

The proposal was initiated by former governor Luther Wenge and was rejected by the provincial executive council headed by new Governor Kelly Naru.
