SPECIAL attention will be given to Sir Michael Somare when he attends his final Mamose governors’ conference in Lae starting today.
Morobe Governor Kelly Naru said something special had been planned for the Grand Chief who would be on final trip as the East Sepik Governor. He is not contesting the seat in the 2017 general election.
The three-day conference will be attended by Sir Michael (East Sepik), Naru (Morobe), Amkat Mai (West Sepik) and Jim Kas (Madang).
“Morobe aims to make this conference a memorable one in honour of Sir Somare,” Naru said.
“To honour Sir Somare, a special farewell trip is organised to Dregarhafen High School in Finschhafen to visit the institution that educated him up to this far.”
Morobeans and Lae city residents have been urged to make their visitors feel welcome.
The four governors will discuss trade with Jayapura.
“In doing businesses with Jayapura, we are mindful of our border security issues on illegal trading of undeclared goods and unlawful human mobility which will be addressed,” Naru said.
Mamose governors secretariat director Andrew Ada said the forum would discuss the trade fair on Oct 10 in Jayapura.
Provincial administrator Masayang Moat said technical activities for the forum was in place.
