WHILE all the attention is on the political leadership battle, many are forgetting that Christmas is on Sunday.
For children in hospitals around the country, their focus is to get well and be home for Christmas.
In keeping with the festive season, the 118 children at the Port Moresby General Hospital’s five paediatric children’s ward received cakes,
ice cream, gifts and clothes for the their parents – thanks to the National Teachers Insurance Ltd (NTIL) staff
who visited on Friday.
NTIL staff spent their lunch hour with sick children in the five wards before they took a break from work for Christmas.
Charity organiser Bonnie Sariman said the staff charity work was to share the love of Christmas with the sick children, some of whom would not be at home with their families.
Sariman said the gifts and treats were from staff contribution, with a big portion coming from their managing
director, Deb Kumar De.
“Sharing is caring and by doing this every
year, we see blessings to our families and the company,” Sariman said.
Sr Agnes Agebigo of children’s ward 3C and D said the visit was a surprise and thanked NTIL on behalf of the children and their parents.
Mothers of children in the wards expressed their thanks for the visit as well.
