Spelling comp a success

The three-day Em Stret Spelling Bee School competition was a success for students in Port Moresby.
It ended on Friday on a high note.
Nine schools competed in the three-day competition.
There were three categories: w junior (grades 3-4), intermediate (grades 5-6) and the senior grades (grades 7-8).
Host Dagia Aka said he was impressed with the level of confidence the students displayed and their ability to spell at all categories.
He said he was excited by the senior category where Coronation came first.
“This goes to show that it doesn’t matter what type of school you go to. What matters is what you’re learning at that school but your commitment and the teachers there,” Aka said.
The schools that took part wereKopkop Primary, Kilakila Primary, Coronation Primary, Ted Diro Primary, St John’s Primary, St Joseph’s International and Port Moresby International Middle School.
St Joseph’s took out the first, second and third places in the junior category ,while Kopkop got the third place and St Joseph’s got the second and third places in the intermediate category.
In the junior grade, Coronation finished first, Kopkop second and Kilakila third.
The fwinners of each category won a K500 shopping voucher from Kid’s World at Vision City Mega Mall, a certificate of achievement and a trophy.
Second and third placegetters got K300 and K200 shopping vouchers, a certificate of achievement and trophy.
All students and teachers who participated in the competition were given prizes and merchandises.
