Spending time with children

Letters

I WONDER how many parents spend time with their children and advise them.
Surely, it is none of my business to know. But let us not forget that this country is build up from many small families.
And we cannot solve very big issues affecting our country if we cannot set the foundation right.
We cannot talk about big things if our homes are not in order.
We need to get the basics right.
Every criminal belongs to a family. Every corrupt leader belongs to a family. And even every student terminated from school because of mischief belongs to a family.
It is true that no one is perfect, but what is our duty as parents? Is it just to see our children get into trouble without even doing anything about it?
It is hard to change the mindset of children when they have become adults because by then it is too late
So this is an advice to parents whose children are still growing up: Don’t let a week go by without advising your child on the path he or she should take.
In this manner, you as a parent will help minimise the major issues affecting our country, and instead you will maximise the assets of this nation. The more the parents neglect their children, the more our children will get out of hand. We all need to work together to reduce problems.
And that goes back to our homes.
Let us not be carried away with our everyday work and in doing so neglect the children who are our future leaders.
We give them inputs through the word of God, and in turn, they will create a better Papua New Guinea tomorrow.
