Split Morobe into two provinces

Letters

SOMETIME ago, I wrote about a need for Morobe to be split into East and West before the 2022 national polls.
I did also provide few political suggestions but no current Morobe politicians and bureaucrats seem to be talking on that topic these days.
Morobe is made of nine populated districts; Menyamya, Wau Bulolo Huon Gulf, Markham, Lae, Nawaeb, Finschhafen, Kabwum, and Tewai–Siassi and is close to one million people in total populations by 2020 and beyond.
Morobe Government and its administration cannot politically serve the population within these nine districts right now so to speak. What I would like to see is for Morobe to split into two provinces, the East and West.
This will also mean that our current Morobe politicians should put away their political differences and work together as a team for the good of Morobe.
Our Morobe MPs should stand united politically and fight to create five more new open electorates, Aseki, Wau, Salamaua, Lae East and Hube.
The proposed East Morobe will claim, Kabwum, Tewai–Siassi, Hube, Finschhafen, Lae East and Nawaeb whilst the new West Morobe Province cater for Markham, Huon Gulf, Bulolo, Wau, Aseki and Menyamya.
Huon Gulf open electorate is to be done away with and replace by new Salamaua Open electorate.
I am appealing to the Morobe people nationwide to support me and making this dream become a reality for a better tomorrow for Morobe people.
I want all Morobeans to know that we are not splitting the Morobe people.
What we should do is to split the province into two in order to gain National Government development financial support and provide much needed services to our rural people in terms of our national government’s annual budgets allocations.
My own recommendation is that the East Morobe provincial headquarter be located at Gagidu government station in Finschhafen while the new West Morobe provincial headquarter be located at Megao next to Bayune Lutheran High School in Mumeng LLG of Bulolo.
Current Lae Open electorate will remain the same and its MP becomes a governor similarly to that of National Capital Districts.
I invite all thinking Morobeans nationwide who really want to see new developments and moving Morobe and its people forward to rise up, join me and speak out now.
