SPOILT food

Letters

Continuous reports of bad food items in the earthquake disaster zone is a concern.
Many of us worked tirelessly to ensure relief supplies were made available and shifted to Kagamuga Airport at our own expense.
Our priority was to ensure these relief supplies were equally distributed to all affected communities throughout the provinces hit by the earthquake.
Our concern now is the coordination of distribution of relief supplies.
It should be done by those with first-hand knowledge of this country’s geography to avoid unnecessary and huge expenses incurred by opportunistic helicopter and hire car companies.
When making decisions involving PNG’s geography, climate and people, the National Government must always consider PNG Nationals to assist foreigners.
Many of us in the health, agriculture and church sectors know the country like the back of our hands.
This expertise should not be wasted but well utilised in times of need.
We thank personnel and companies on the ground including Oil Search, ExxxonMobil, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Christian Radio Missionary Fellowship, Australian Army, New Zealand Air Force, PNG Defence Force, ward councillors, Sally Lloyd, Anton Lutz, media personnel, health workers, relief workers and volunteers.
We have all worked willingly to help our people in need. Bravo.
