Sports admin course in Lae
SPORTS officers from six of the nine districts in Morobe are currently learning organisational management skills.
The workshop in Lae started on Monday.
The officers were trained by PNG Sports Foundation programme manager Scott Vavine.
Vavine, who is based in Port Moresby, said teaching district sports officers the skills and knowledge would make them understand the importance of general and sectional team management, selection of teams and selection of technical programmes.
“The knowledge gained will assist them to go back into respective districts and upgrade the athletes’ performances in various codes,” Vavine said.
“The workshop will also make the officers appreciate better Team Morobe’s overall performance at PNG Games in Port Moresby last year.”
He said the administrators would now have a fair idea on how to critically analyse past results from present, rectify weak areas and plan improvement for the PNG Games in 2012 in East New Britain.
