THE Kintinu Sports Development Association in Eastern Highlands is now a legal organisation recognised and registered by the Investment Promotion Authority.
This was confirmed by chairman Gilbert Sikoe, secretary Nohe Abass and treasurer Absalom Fitome.
Sikoe said that the association’s constitution was in place.
Sikoe said that the association, originally from Henganofi in Eastern Highlands, was established to prevent and discourage illegal activities in the district.
He said the organisation would not only be involved in sports but also in community awareness.
“Our aim and objective is to conduct awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS, illicit drugs, home-brew, prostitution and tribal fighting, which should be discouraged in the community,” Sikoe said.
“This awareness will be conducted during the sports competition, which starts in August and ends with the finals in November.”
The chairman said so far attracted 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams from within Henganofi district.
