Gulf woman Delisha Koime Liri made a small donation to the provincial athletics team last week.
Koime Liri, pictured, founder of an association called Kikira, receives second-hand sporting gear from Australian-based powerlifter Tahina Booth, who is also part Gulf.
Koime Liri — a SP Sports Awards finalist — decided to donate shoes, compression wear, shorts, shirts and toiletries to the athletes — most of whom come from rural areas.
“When I heard that the athletes had no proper gear, I decided to give what little I have because I am passionate about sports and helping others,” she said.
Koime Liri, from Baimuru, is the younger sister of former national female sprinter Mae Koime.
Mae encouraged the athletes to train hard.
Gulf Athletics president Lily Tua was pleased with the donation.
