Digicel staff members have started their annual visit to 12 Community Learning Centres (CLC) in Port Moresby to share some festive cheer in the lead-up to Christmas.
The visit is an initiative of the Digicel Foundation.
The Christmas community learning centre Xmas visit programme is organised by the foundation team for staff members to participate in.
Digicel staff uses the opportunity to share the spirit of Christmas with children and acknowledge and reward them with presents.
Visiting began this week with the IT and technical staff going to O’Connor CLC in Gerehu and later the Digicel marketing, retail and products teams along with the foundation team going to Mercy Care CLC in Erima.
Digicel managing mirector, mobile, Shivan Bhargava, who was part of the team to Mercy Care CLC, said it was a pleasure to meet the children and hard-working staff.
“Digicel is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and a big part of this includes giving back to early education centres that do so much to help prepare local children for formal schooling,” Bhargava said.
He said the visit was emotional but satisfying.
Mercy Care CLC head teacher Pauline Nelson was happy with the visit and thanked the foundation for the gesture.
