St John to start service after MOU signing
The National, Wednesday September 9th, 2015
The St John Ambulance Service (SJAS) will resume operations once a memorandum of understanding is signed in the next few days, its chief executive officer Andrew Kalai says.
Kalai said yesterday that an amended agreement would be finalised this week to release funding for service resumption.
“We’ve had three meetings with the National Department of Health since last Wednesday, with the most recent being yesterday,” Kalai said
“We discussed amendments to the MOU so I’ll be making those amendments and will bring the revised MOU to them today (yesterday).
“If it is not signed today, then hopefully tomorrow.”
He said the amendments would include an SJAS’s expenditure budget outlining its overall operational costs for the next three months.
“I’ve been asked to provide an expenditure budget for the next three months so the funding that will be released should cover us until December,” he said.
“Once the funding is released, we will resume all our operations,”
