A PRESENTATION of 3,000 library books capped off Book Week celebrations for a school in Port Moresby last Friday.
St Joseph’s International Catholic College, which needed a complete change of library books, received the books from HOPE Worldwide (PNG).
Country director Tessa Te Mata told students it was never too late to learn and that the only way to do that was by reading books.
“Reading is one of the most wonderful things a child can do,” she told the students, teachers and parents.
The presentation is part of the HOPE Worldwide (PNG) school library programme that has distributed over two million books to over 2,000 schools in PNG.
Te Mata said they were providing around 500 books to each primary school, and 1,000 per high school.
St Joseph’s principal George Swamy thanked Hope Worldwide (PNG) for helping the school.
