A MAN suspected of an affair with a married woman was allegedly stabbed by the woman’s husband in Manus on Wednesday.
Police said the man from the Highlands was attacked and wounded by a man from East Sepik in Lorengau town. Manus police commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the man from Sepik, armed with a knife, stabbed the Highlander at the back of his shoulder.
“The victim sustained serious knife wounds and was rushed to the Lorengau General Hospital where he has been admitted,” he said.
“The suspect told police investigators when they approached him that he suspected the victim of having an affair with his wife.
“The suspect was arrested and is in police custody for further investigations.”
Chief Insp Yapu warned people that when they have problems they should go to the police and report such incidents rather than taking the law into their own hands and causing another problem.
“Report crimes or summary offences so the police can attend to it and deal with the issue,” the provincial police chief said.
