STAR Mountain are upbeat about their Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League campaign after their 2-2 draw with former ladder leaders Vitiaz United in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Star Mountain head coach Selan Elijah commended his side for a rousing performance which he says was a good indication of things to come from the eight-placed side.
“My players did well,” he said.
“I spoke to them before the game to maintain possession but if we lost the ball, we needed to drop back and defend.
“They did really well and after a disallowed goal, I told them that they could argue all they want but the referee’s decision was final.
“Playing against one of the top teams in the NSL is huge for us as it prepares us for the next fixtures.
“We had Moses Arisib, from Bougainville, come in to boost our midfield because earlier on we had Steven Inia and Bernard Purari leave for Bougainville.”
