State agencies agree to share information

TWO state agencies have signed an agreement to work together to identify and penalise non-compliant businesses in Papua New Guinea.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA) and Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) was signed in Port Moresby yesterday.
ICA’s chief migration officer Stanis Hulahau and IPA managing director Clarence Hoot agreed that the partnership would strengthen the ongoing cooperation between the two organisations.
The MOU will see both agencies share information, improve business compliance and collaborate on operational matters.
Hulahau said the partnership was necessary as it would enable both agencies to exchange information on persons of interest or to seek information on company ownership and registration.
“The IPA plays a significant role to attract foreign businesses to PNG and issuing businesses the appropriate registration certificates.”
