JUSTICE David Cannings has been reappointed as a judge for the Supreme and National Courts for another three years.
He was sworn in this week by Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio in the presence of Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika, Justice Sir Bernard Sakora, Justice Les Gavara-Nanu, and Justice Allan David.
As per protocol, Cannings recited declarations by pledging to uphold the constitution and the laws governing the country without fear or favour.
He also pledged to serve the country with loyality throughout the course of his reappointment.
“I do promise and declare to serve well the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and uphold the laws and constitution of Papua New Guinea,” Cannings said.
Meanwhile, secretary of the Office of the Governor-General Sir Tipo Vuatha confirmed that Sir Michael did execute the dismissal of North Fly MP Boka Kondra as a State minister.
Sir Tipo said the office received advice of Kondra’s dismissal from the Prime Minister’s Office and National Executive Council on April 8.
He said Sir Michael acted on the advice by executing the dismissal on the same day.
