A SMALL business in Kundiawa, Chimbu, has supported a week-long workshop for Catholic teachers at the Mengendi pastoral centre.

The Perum Stationery company donated K7,000 and K700 worth of soft drinks and stationery.

Company owner Sam Goiye praised the Catholic teachers, saying choosing local companies was the way forward in building strong relationships.

He said he started his stationery business five years ago to help locals who found it difficulty travelling to Hagen and Goroka to buy supplies.

He urged the teachers to support local businesses because they would help the teachers.

Catholic education secretary Christina Apa thanked Goiye on behalf of the 250 participants, saying this was the first business to come up with such donations.

“We support buying goods from local businesses in the province but the onus is on them to support us in any activities or programmes,” she said.
