Still no sign of an auditor-general

Letters

THE Auditor-General’s Office has been without a head now for more than two months.
Despite the prime minister giving a clear directive to the Public Service Commissioner to appoint an acting auditor-general, nothing has eventuated.
The long delay is very unusual for a constitutional office and it is adversely affecting the operations of the office.
An acting appointment is required immediately to ensure continuity to enable the Auditor-General’s Office to carry out its mandated functions.
