Still waiting on Govt for pensions

Letters

MORE than 600 Correctional Services retirees are still waiting for their outstanding pensions.
The pension from 2005 to 2016 has been delayed for almost three years after the fund was made available by the Government through a court directive in 2016.
We are still waiting for the Finance Department to release our entitlements.
Six of our fellow comrades have passed away while waiting for our funds to be released.
Our unpaid pensions have accumulated to more than K10 million of which K3 million was released last year by the Finance Department but only K550,000 have been paid to the first batch of 246 pensioners.
But 86 of our members have missed out from this payment.
Those who missed out on the first payment with the remaining batch are struggling to access their funds.
We want the Government to release and transfer our funds to the Correctional Services’ trust accounts so that we can easily access them.
