Stingers stung in POM softball

Normal, Sports

WANTOK’S lightning pitcher Mathilda Moe’s deadly deliveries triggered a lopsided victory for her team.
They dumped Stingers 9-4 in Saturday’s pre-season matches at the Bisini softball diamonds.
Moe was also good with her batting throughout their innings coming home twice to help her side with the points and putting in a perfect all around performance as the star of the dimonds.
It was her destructive deliveries which kept the Stingers scoreless through the top seven inning, sending back the Stingers batters to the dressing room without scoring.
Stingers workaholic Trudi Simba finally managed to register her sides first points in the seventh innings.
Wantoks were dominant in the batting which resulted in Colis Banau, Lisa Poluna, Bala Manet, Vini Parom and Ela Stellas all contributing to register points for their team at regular intervals of their innings.
Mathilda and Parom came home twice to put their team in a comfortable lead, while for the Stingers who started to rally in the final innings through Gwen Gedema, Simba sisters Trudi and Leno, it was  a case of too little too late for them to cause a late upset.
In the other premier division match on Saturday, Air Ways Bears draw with United Sisters 1-1  in a tough encounter.
