Stop assaulting preachers in public

Letters

I AM not happy about the attitude of some policemen in Wewak.
We have young evangelists who usually preach and spread God’s word to the public.
Recently, a group of policemen arrived at the place a preacher was preaching and one police assaulted him.
Those who were listening to the preacher got angry and rushed to fight with the policemen.
The police then fired their guns above the people’s head.
I appeal to the police commander Supt Albert Beli to take the officers into custody, investigate their actions and deal with them.
To the policemen who assaulted the preacher, your M16 guns and bullets won’t change the attitude and big-headed young people today.
You need preachers and God-fearing men to help out.
I appeal to the policemen to respect the men of God.
Please go apologise to the preacher that you recently assaulted.
That preacher happens to be my son who was once a criminal but he is now a changed man.
He has changed a lot of young men and women right in the country with the Gospel.
I want the public and Supt Beli to know that we have declared Wewak market’s car park as the pulpit for God for evangelists to preach there. Everyone is welcome to sit and listen to the Gospel there.
I will write to Supt Beli’s about that and for his men to not assaulting preachers.

  • To those Police officers who assaulted the preacher to read this bible verse taken from the book of Jeremiah 5:1- 5.
Be very mindful when doing this because whatever rank, name or title you have, in gods kingdom we are equal.
God gave you the job which is your blessing so don’t try to think you above the word of god because god has the last say. Go and apologies to the preacher.

  • Mr.Kakazo, this a Christian country you should very well know that Heaven`s law was breached.
The policemen should have politely ask the preacher to go elsewhere, instead force was applied.

  • Preachers are working to minimize lawlessness and disorder. You should be appreciative and not harassing them.
Thank you Mr Numbasa for raising the concern. We people of Wewak would like to have a peaceful town.
