Stop being lazy, be innovative

Letters

IT torments me when I read in the newspaper that Papua New Guinea is one of the poorest country in the world.
PNG should not be catogorised as a poor nation because we are richly blessed.
However, the view that we are poor is quite true.
We may be rich in resources, but we’re poor.
Why is that?
It’s easy to blame corrupt leaders.
Our leaders are not the cause of us being poor.
We are poor not because we are a new nation.
We are poor not because we don’t have enough finances.
We are poor because we are poor in the mindset.
God created us with a powerful tool that no other living organism on this planet has and that is the mind.
We can create anything.
Before God created humans, he imagined us.
The late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare pictured this country before he pushed for our independence.
The same applied to Susan Kairike when she wanted to design our national flag.
If we are weak in the mind, we will continue to be lazy.
When we are lazy, we cannot be innovative.
So, it’s time we change the way we think.
Toil the land or venture into business.
Write a book, compose a song or invent something the world is yet to see.
This way, will change the course of our nation from the path of poverty to the path of prosperity.
With God, we can do anything.
