Stop cooking, selling food in public

Letters

While the country is bracing for more positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases as well as an increase in Delta variant cases and deaths, in Port Moresby, people continue to ignore the “Niupla Pasin” as can be seen everywhere in the capital.
This is a plea to National Capital Distict Commission to ban the cooking of food in public at Manu Market and Unagi Oval.
This is a health hazard and not safe.
The people who are cooking are filthy, with sweat running down their faces and arms and dirty hands cooking and serving food to customers.
With betel nut in their mouths and a cigarette in one hand, vendors serve awaiting customers and it is just unhealthy.
Not only that, this is against the “Niupla Pasin” and encouraging the spread of the Covid-19.
Manu Market and Unagi Oval are not the only places in Port Moresby where you can witness this.
It’s everywhere.
It is now up to the NCDC to act and do something or remain silent and expect rise in the Covid-19, Delta and death.
