THE Stop & Shop in Port Moresby will continue to support local farmers by selling their produce.
City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) Group chief executive officer Navin Raju said Stop & Shop now had 80 per cent of the produce it sold sourced locally.
“Over three years ago, we have about 50/50 local and overseas produce. Now we have 80 per cent local and 20 per cent imported,” Raju said.
“When we had the Bougainville taro here, we had a huge support from the Bougainville people who came into our shops. We ran out of taro.”
He is urging the people of Chimbu in Port Moresby to buy the Santana potatoes from their province.
“I ask the people of Chimbu and the rest of the country to support our farmers by buying these potatoes as it is actually high quality, better than some of the potatoes you get overseas.
“Our team does an excellent job in getting produce from local suppliers.
“Our plans for 2022 is to go to different regions of PNG and get the produce into Moresby for the people who live in Moresby to get a taste of home.”
