Stop the politics, start serving

Letters

MANY of our national MPs are complaining about not receiving their DSIP and PSIP grants on a timely bases while some claim to receive less and part payments.
MPs affected tend to blame the current government led by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for this delay and part payment as a mastermind tactics to lure MPs.
Was it true or false, the government feedback still stay on?
The delay and part disbursement of funds was caused by the result of economic downturn and global slump in commodity prices.
This political battle between MPs and government ministers holding key portfolios create questions in our minds.
Who do we have to believe?
What matters most is people need development and services and not interested with too much politics.
It seems most MPs cannot prove to their people what they can do apart from DSIP and PSIP grants.
They look at these grants as the only option to bring government services to their constituencies.
Those are constitutional grants no matter what, you will still receive them when time permits.
Leaders need to be smart and creative and start milking other available options to better their people’s lives instead of sitting on their comfortable chair and complaining about SIP grants.
International donor agencies are there.
In your capacity as a national leader, by all means you can seek their assistance in the form of monitory aid or create sister city relationship to add more on your development agendas and achieve your goals.
Donor agencies are willing to assist if only we meet all applicable requirements and will continue to assist us if we provide those acquittals containing transparent results.
Stand up as a leader and keep your development.
Aspiration alive instead of banking too much on government allocated grants.
To conclude, Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD) must put in place strict follow up measures by sending its audit team to physical check the real existence of projects on the ground to ensure, delivered projects under these SIP grants matched the acquittal reports presented by respective MPs.
Evidence must reflect the value of money spent.
