Stop wasting money on politicians’ trips

Letters

IT is interesting to know that funds are always available for politicians to travel around the country and abroad.
But this is not the case when people and institutions are in dire need of vital and lifesaving drugs and infrastructure.
It seems there is no budget allocation for lifesaving causes such as drugs for hospitals, health centres and aid posts.
There is always the excuse of no funds when we are in difficult situations.
Politicians should ask themselves:

  • HOW will my people benefit from my trip?
  • WHAT impact will my trip have on my constituents?
  • IS my trip really important?

If politicians can take a moment to ponder on these questions then millions and billions of funds that are spent on trips will be saved.
These funds can be used on more important causes for the benefit of the people and service providers.
