Storm, Warakos Lae bound for Ipatas Cup major challenge

 The Six-Mile Storm and Badili Warokos take their golden passes to the next stage of the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup after being declared joint winners of the Southern Challenge.

The Warokos beat the Vanuatu Dust 12-4 while the Storm took out the Dep Tigers 12-8.

There were 18 registered teams in four pools that took part in the challenge and after the third round on Saturday, the top two teams from each pool were selected for the playoffs that would decide the last two places.

The Storm, Warokos, Dust and Tigers were the final four.  

The Warokos and Stormwill head to Laefor the major challenge.

The gold passes came with K10,000 each. 

Southern leg cordinator Simon Maima said the money would be used to subsidise the teams’ travel to Morobe.

He thanked the 18 teams that took part over three weekends saying they had all proven they had the talent and passion to be successful.

“We’re happy the challenge was incident-free and the best teams have now qualified,” Maima said.

He congratulated the Warakos and Storm and encouraged the other sides to continue their efforts to get better.
