LITTLE known Kone Storms fullback Jackin Mak has fought his way into the Masta Mak City Rangers squad for the upcoming Masta Mak Easter Cup rugby league challenge this weekend.
Mak, who scored two tries to help Storm shoot down Defence 18-8 in Port Moresby rugby league encounter yesterday has won the heart of Masta Mak franchise owner Kelly Aiyok.
Aiyok, when releasing the names of the squad yesterday afternoon, said Mak had a lot of potential of making it into representative football.
The squad released: Mak, Emmanuel Uki, Steven Neng, Charles Onguglo, Joel Ambrose, Meninga Keith, Mathias Emiabo, Gairo Varo, Brian Apo, Nelson Palme, Benjamin John, Nixon Kolo, Aaron Mulunga, Johnson Kuike, Samson Ene, Nathan Ango, Simon Young, Leonard Otmar, Enoch Maki, Ford Tuli and Tau Boe.
The acting team manager is Ted Vere, Chris Enara (head coach) and head trainer Solomon Kuluniasi.
Aiyok said the Easter Cup trials were an annual event for two Port Moresby-based franchises to select a strong side.
He said hosting such a tournament would promote and develop the growing enthusiasm for game among the young population in the National Capital District and PNG.
“We strive to bring a new brand of football that epitomises sportsmanship and discipline in rugby league that will promote professionalism,” he said.
