GROWING up in the tough neighborhood of Six-Mile in the nation’s capital has prompted businessman Michael Kandiu to give something back to the youths in the area.

Being an avid rugby league player and follower during his university days, Kandiu decided to back Ipatas Cup gold pass winners Six-Mile Storms with K10,000.

“If this money can go towards achieving something worthwhile for Six-Mile youths then it is money well spent,” Kandiu said.

He said the Ipatas Cup was a great concept that gave players the chance to show their talents at the provincial level. Kandiu said he hoped his support helped the Storms achieve their goals.

The Storms made up of players predominately from the Fletcher Morobe Compound and nearby settlements would use the funds to help with their administrative costs.

The Storms under the helm of ageless Souths hard man David Kaiabe includes TNA Lions players Michael Mark and Tony Bare.

“We have a tough campaign ahead and the support from Mr Kandiu is a welcome blessing to our team’s preparation to do well against all odds,” Kaiabe said.
