THE Wisconsin national guard has urged the PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) military women to keep fighting for change.
“Always remain patient in anger, frustration and disappointment in the strive for change,” Wisconsin’s Lt Col Shannon Hellenbrand and Lt Col Christina Schmoker advised.
They spoke at a recent virtual meeting with PNGDF on pregnancy policies and other challenges unique to military women.
In keeping with the Covid-19 protocol, the State partnership meeting was conducted online and the discussion focused on helping PNGDF with its women, peace and security initiatives and policy writing.
Wisconsin programme coordinator and gender adviser 2nd Lt Ellie Tadych said: “We are not talking about doctrine or specifically military matters, but the whole culture-wide issue that military women face.
“It is fitting to have these conversations with our partners during Women’s History Month, and also during a time when changes are being made to update policies affecting women in the military in the US as well.”
