THE Brian Bell Group is expecting strong growth from all its businesses next year, says chief executive Cameron Mackellar.
Mackellar said, like everyone else, they would like to see some of the major resource projects start to kick in next year to give the country confidence into the future.
“We anticipate 2020 will be another good year for our group,” he told The National.
Mackellar said a number of the group’s key projects would come to fruition.
This include the new 39-unit apartment block at Ela Beach expected to be completed and opened by next April.
He said they would invest heavily in a new Homecentre building in Mt Hagen as the present facility was outdated and needed new life,.
“We see a massive opportunity with further expansion of our products in the Southern Highlands and want to support those communities in a bigger and better way in 2020,” Mackellar said.
“Our work on a new Homecentre for Mt Hagen will start in 2020 but won’t fully complete until 2021.
“We are very excited to be investing further in the region.”
He said they had invested well in the warehouse at Gerehu, Port Moresby, Le Hunte at Gordon and Homecentre in Mt Hagen.
Mackellar said the investments were made regardless of the challenges the group experienced throughout the year.
“We would have invested circa K200,000,000 which was a significant amount of investment for the group as well as for the country,” he said.
“(There were) lots of challenges for us and every other business in PNG throughout 2019 (some of those will continue into 2020).
“However, we can’t complain.
“It’s been a positive year and we are in charge of our own destiny.”
