Student dedicates success to God

GRADE 10 dux Pim Watep of Kui Wamp Nga High School who topped the class in all seven subjects has dedicated his success to God.
Watep came first in English, mathematics, science, social science, personnel development, agriculture and business studies.
“The Gospel of Luke (1:37) says if you work hard, God will step in and assist you. I strongly believe in this Bible verse,” he said.
Watep, whose parents are from Jiwaka and Western Highlands, said he studied hard knowing that the Lord would help him.
“The honour and glory goes back to God. He used me to do well in my school work,” he said.
“In God and through God, nothing is impossible.
“My dream is to become a doctor in the future.
“I believe that with the help of God, I will make it through.”
Mum Rebecca thanked God for her son’s achievement.
“My husband left us 10 years ago and got married to another woman. It’s through prayer, faith and confidence in the Lord that made things possible for him (Pim),” she said. Rebecca is also looking after two daughters in school.
School principal Nathan James said the school had been given secondary status.
The first grade 11 intake will be next year.
