Student rep thanks govt

Education

INSTITUTE of Business Studies University (IBSU) student representative council vice-president Rachel Sengi has thanked the Government for recognising her institution.
Sengi, a pioneer SRC executive and graduate, said the certification had ended the uncertainty students had regarding their qualifications and the university’s status.
Sengi said the students were grateful for the commitment between IBS University and the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST).
“I honestly want to commend the DHERST minister for the heart that he has to see young Papua New Guineans excel academically and in life as well,” she said.
Sengi said questions about if and when the IBSU would gain a certificate of registration as a recognised university had not only affected the institution itself but the students as well.
“We tried to be resilient, to be strong and persevere during the period of going back and forth with the DHERST, the Government and the school.”
She said the experience had taught the students to be strong.
Sengi said the student body were grateful for the minister’s commitment to give more young people opportunities.
