A THIRTEEN-year-old female Grade 6 student is the winner of the bemobile Design the Cup competition.
Florence Metta, from the St Francis Anglican Primary School in the National Capital District, won the K35,000 prize money for her winning design.
Florence’s entry was selected as the best trophy design from among thousands of entries received, by a panel of judges at the bemobile headquarters in Waigani.
The competition ran for nine weeks and ended on , Aug 31.
Under the competition’s guidelines, bemobile wanted the newly designed cup to appeal to the public, promote the image of PNGNRL and be a unique PNG trophy.
The winning student artist receives a school fees trust fund of K10,000 to provide for her
education, while the winning school collects K25,000 to provide educational resources and facilities.
bemobile chairman Anthony Smare announced the amount of K35,000 for the “Design the bemobile Cup competition” at the bemobile Cup launch in June this year.
He said the competition was part of an effort to make the bemobile Cup games more appealing to the families and the young.
