THE National Union of Student (NUS) head has backed actions by the University of Goroka (UOG) students who continued boycotting classes this week.
“I disagree with the court decision which the UOG administration obtained last Friday that does not really represent the needs of the student,” NUS interim president Justin Herape said.
Mr Herape yesterday called upon other student representative councils (SRC) from other PNG universities to support the move initiated by the UOG students.
“I call upon the SRCs of all other institutions including Pacific Adventist University, Divine Word University, University of PNG, National Polytechnic Institute of PNG and other institutes to support this stand.
“Students are the most important stakeholders and should be treated accordingly,” he said.
Mr Herepa, who is also PNG University of Technology’s 2010 SRC president and a fourth year business management student, said a NUS meeting would be convened as soon as other universities commenced classes in light of the issue that is already raised.
