Students complete various courses at centre

A GROUP of 54 students at the Vunamami Farmers Training Centre in Kokopo, East New Britain, received certificates last week after completing various courses.
The centre is a level seven government-run institution with 31 teachers and 700 students.
Manager Reddy Lukara said the implementation of the national certificate programme began last year with 24 students receiving certificates in metal fabrication, welding, auto body repair and refinishing (spray painting).
Trade courses on offer are metal fabrication and welding, auto body repair and refinishing, auto mechanic, carpentry, plumbing, tropical agriculture, electrical, hospitality-major in commercial cookery, dressing and tailoring.
Meanwhile, the managing director of the Tropicana Ltd Dame Sandra Lau announced a scholarship offered by the Chinese government for two teachers to attend a week-long training in tropical agriculture in Port Moresby which starts today.
Lau will assist with the allowances.
