A SEVENTEEN-year-old Grade 9 student at Kerema Coronation High School was allegedly raped on Sunday, police say.
Police said the girl and her boyfriend were chatting at the back of the girls’ dormitory when two male friends showed up and demanded that they be paid for earlier giving their mobile phone to the boy to call the girl.
Police said the girl told the other two suspects that she had no money and she would pay them the next day.
The two demanded the girl have sex with her partner in front of them otherwise they would be beaten, police said.
Provincial police commander Reuben Guisu said after forcing the two to have intercourse, they chased the boyfriend away and raped the girl.
He said the matter was reported the next day to police by her relatives.
Police then went to the school and arrested the suspects.
Guisu said the girl was admitted at the Kerema General Hospital.
The two men and the boyfriend are locked up at the Kerema police station.
He said police investigations into the matter revealed the boyfriend had planned with the two men to attack the girl.
He said charges would be laid once evidence, including the medical report on the victim, was handed to them.
Police said the girl and the suspects were all from Ihu, Gulf, and were students at the school.
