Fifty students graduated with certificates after a week-long business training at Don Bosco Technical Institution (DBTI) in Port Moresby on Friday.
Know About Business (KAB), under the partnership of SME Corporation (Smec) and DBTI management, teaches final year students about small business.
Principal Catherine Nongkas said: “We have managed to successfully complete the training although we lacked the facilities.”
She thanked Smec management for its support and partnership.
“No matter who we are, there is no way you will achieve and be successful on your own,” Nongkas said. “It is through partnerships.”
She urged students to use what they learnt to create their own businesses.
Smec managing director Steven Maken congratulated the students and management for the successful training. “Today we are here to witness the students graduating and see them further knowledge and involvement to teach or become young potential entrepreneurs,” he said.
Student Vayola Dage told The National that she was happy with the course because it had taught her to run her own business.
“Apart from my career, I can run my own business and this is very helpful,” she said.
