The UPNG Adventist Tertiary Students Association (ATSA) welcomed more than 30 new students during an orientation programme last Sunday at the Waigani campus.
The programme, themed Called to serve in God’s Service, was held to introduce first year students to the association.
The programme was based on the Bible: “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be; if any man serve me, him will my Father honour”. (John 12:26)
UPNG ATSA president Orio Parunga said every student had a role to play in the ministry to serve not because of pride, blessings or to prosper in life but to serve fellow students wholeheartedly.
He said the students participated in campus evangelism, hospital and prison visitations, church activities and other outreach programmes.
“They also take up leadership roles in the association and church so in a way they are developing their leadership skills.”
Guest speakers Pastor Edward Dango, Pastor Sangai Marah and Samson Koity urged students to value their faith and maintain it throughout their lives.
UPNGATSA is part of PNG Adventist Tertiary Students Association which includes all Adventist students in tertiary institutions across the country.
