THE majority of the students in schools do not know the names of plants and animals that live in the country’s forest, according to an education officer.

A week-long excursion programme organised by the Port Moresby Nature Park is targeting about 900 students to learn more about plant and animal names.

The programme started on Monday for the NCDC schools.

One of the dedicated education officers Ishimu Bebe said this was a chance for students to learn about the environment.

Bebe said they were proud to help students in identifying plants and animal. He said through this they will learn much about their country and its wildlife.
