West New Britain Tertiary Students’ Union launched a three-week education awareness programme last Friday in Kimbe, West New Britain.
The programme started at Lolokoru in Talasea local level government (LLG) and will end on Jan 23 at Ulamona in Bialla.
The programme will promote issues about education, the environment and hygiene.
Talasea district chief executive Robert Dau, Hoskins LLG education officer Bernard Mabubu and students from the University of Papua New Guinea, University of Technology, University of Goroka and St Peter Chanel College were at the launch.
Hoskins education officer Bernard Mabubu, who launched the programme, was pleased with the initiative.
“You have come up with a union to connect smart, like-minded individuals,” he said.
“You have the capacity and the skills to change and move our system forward.”
Mabubu was pleased the students were giving something back to the communities.
Dau thanked the students for their initiative.
He gave a vehicle from the office of Talasea Open MP Francis Maneke to help with transportation.
