PHILIP Aravure Primary School administration and parents are worried about the safety of the students as the roadworks in Gerehu is a safety issue.
School representative Victor Sonny said it was dangerous for the students because the road construction was very close to the school gate and fence.
He said there was a drain that separated the road from the school, but now, the drain is gone.
He said the National Capital District Commission representative had a meeting with the parents and the school administration last Friday and came up with an agreement.
“The construction company has agreed to build a barricade to protect the school fence,” he said.
Sonny said concerns were raised because many students had been hit by speeding vehicles in the past.
Meanwhile, the school is employing youths from the suburb to do maintenance and construction work in the school.
“This is to keep the youths busy and keep them busy and from getting involved in undesirable activities,” Sonny said.
