WHILE the majority of students are now into their Christmas holidays, some non-East New Britain students attending institutions in the province are still waiting for their tickets from the Office of Higher Education to travel home.
The Kabaleo Teachers College administration in Kokopo reported that 15 students bound for Wewak, Popondetta, Manus, Kavieng and Kuinga were still waiting for their tickets home.
The school administration said from what they understood, the Office of Higher Education was responsible for issuing tickets to students and had reportedly engaged a travel agent to do the bookings.
The school said some had managed to fly out two weeks ago while the remaining students still had to receive a response from the office.
The students and the school administration decided to go to the media to show their frustration. The students are anxious to go home to their families.
“The students want to go home and see their parents.”
Most teachers at KTC were already on holiday but feared for the security of the remaining students and were doing what they could to look after them.
It is understood that Year 1 and 2 students from the Gaulim teachers college were still waiting for their tickets to return home.
