Students’ subsidies paid

ALL outstanding subsidies for students from Kokopo district, in East New Britain, who were at University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) last year, have been paid.
According to Kokopo district scholarships officer Fidelis Nicholas, all outstanding payments were settled last month.
Nicholas said three institutions were not at the meeting where the payment was made and they therefore did not collect their cheques.
“Parents and guardians were advised to collect receipts at the district office but some that did not hear the public notice and failed to do so and they have been querying the office since,” Nicholas said.
The subsidies were delayed because of the student unrest in 2016.
